Academic translation services fall into two categories, each with distinct requirements:
Certified academic document translation is required when transcripts, diplomas, course descriptions, or recommendation letters must be submitted to universities, credential evaluation agencies (WES, ECE, NACES members), professional licensing boards, or immigration authorities such as USCIS. These translations must include a signed certificate of accuracy confirming the translation is complete and faithful to the original.
Research and manuscript translation is required when academic papers, theses, dissertations, abstracts, or grant proposals must be translated into English (or another language) for journal submission, conference presentation, or peer review. These translations require subject-matter expertise in the relevant discipline and adherence to academic formatting standards (APA, MLA, Chicago, Vancouver).
Tomedes provides both. Every academic translation is assigned to a linguist with documented expertise in the relevant subject area, reviewed by a second specialist, and delivered under ISO 17100:2015 quality standards.
